The Jazz Bridge Project is a nonprofit organization established by a group of caring Philadelphia jazz musicians and fans dedicated to assisting professional Delaware Valley jazz musicians and vocalists in times of crisis by providing confidential and caring support in keeping with their personal dignity. Through donations, grants, and music bookings, Jazz Bridge will assist those coping with emergencies involving health, legal, financial, personal and professional needs, building an awareness of the local jazz sound and the community of musicians who make it. Help us be the bridge between the music makers and the people who love and appreciate this music.

Always a pleasure seeing this towering "Master Bassist" in action! I took pictures with him a number of years ago at the late and great Tony Williams Jazz Fest in Philly.

Great band, great tenor playing so in the pocket..........
Bob Pollitt thaught my son for improvisation for 3 years at Farrington’s Music Store in the Burlington Mall in NJ. We even bought 2 saxophones from him. He was an excellent teacher.
Um...yes, yes...quite right, Sir.
my all time hero...
Mr.Pollitt performed at our wedding! Doesn't get any better than that!!! ❤️❤️❤️

Carmen!
He's absolutely right. Craft is following a set of pre-determined and thought-out procedures to achieve a product. Street craftsmen who make those palm frond roses, or kids who make a macaroni image based on what their teacher says, or a skilled seamstress. All of those are craftspeople. An artist creates, and that's what improvisation is; spontaneous creation. All the practice and preparation the jazz musician goes through is so that eventually, he will be able to express more freely and accurately what is in their mind during improvisations. To better communicate their thoughts through music.
Keep these coming. Thanks guys

Master Musician and Guitarist 🎸🔥
I love Pat Martino
cool
Did you play the trumpet at Temple University in the early 1970’s?
Does anybody know if he was able to read music towards the end of his life? It would be really cool if he did. I'm already very inspired by his story
Yes - not to the point of being a "sight-reader" but he could read. I don't think he was ever in many situations where he needed the skill.
@@effsixteenblock50 thank you
I had the pleasure of seeing Pat's trio a few years before he passed at the Regatta Bar in Boston. What an absolute legend; I was lucky enough to be seated up front about 20 ft from Pat, best concert ever. My friend and I demolished a bottle of wine, and were quite boisterous in comparison with the rest of the crowd. We were cheering and really getting into it and We definitely made Pat laugh and smile while he was playing by treating the jazz room like a rock concert. RIP Pat Martino.
